I am surprised of how good of a day today was for the most part. Once I got by the first five periods of school, everything got awesome. Lunch today was funny, and after that it just went by so much faster.
Today was the beginning of my new workout program. Monday is shoulder day and I worked those babies like crazy. I didn’t go up in weight with my shoulder press, shrugs, or reverse flies, but I got did 185lbs on handcleaning (which is a step up for me, since I’m terrible at them) and Arnold-ed 65lb dumbbells (which I don’t know of anyone my age doing). I also felt like today I did more reps on the shoulder press, so in the future, we should see about me going up in weight very soon.
Today for dinner I had 2 pork chops with raw carrots and about four servings of rice. I took two protein shakes today and drank two Rip-Its. I feel good right now.
Aside from that, I listened to Rush’s first two albums. That is some great music there, and I hear it only gets better. Also, I am hoping to begin “Lost” season 5, in hopes of finishing the season up by Monday when season 6 comes on.

Day #1: Quickie
This will be a quick entry. I have school tomorrow and need to get to bed.
Today I didn’t lift. Instead I went to work. I guess I ate okay today, but nothing too good for me (aside from my chicken Caesar salad). In all, I felt pretty good today. I got cockblocked by one of my co-workers. The girl was pretty hot too. I talked to my other friend today. I really miss her. Some stuff will never heal.
Anyway, that’s it. Simple, but sweet. Will blog tomorrow about my first day on my new workout and feelings.

Day #0: The Beginning
This blog will serve as my “Workout Journal.” It will not only keep touch on my workout and bodybuilding progress, but it’ll help me keep touch with my diet and my personal feelings. By the end of 2010, I expect to see more progress.
To recap:
Joined gym at age 14 on August 21, 2008
Now: 16 years old, 206 pounds (give or take), 5’11-6’0
Bench: 245
Squat: 315
Deadlift: 275
Military Press: 155
Row: At least 260.
Calf Raise: At least 330.
By the end of the year, my goals are…
- Get my weight to 240lbs.
- Bench three plates for a one rep-max
- Squat four plates
- Deadlift four plates
- Get all areas stronger
- Improve on pull-ups and dips.
- Get abs. Not a six-pack, but flatten out my stomach and make it stronger.
Outside of the gym, I want to accomplish more in life. Right now I’m doing fine in school, As and Bs, talking to new people, and living a happy life. I’ve stayed free of drugs and alcohol and cigarettes for all of my life, and never been tempted to do anything (though I did take a drink of beer during beer pong one night, but it was enough for me to quit). In addition to maintaining all of the above, my goals are to…
- Better my diet
- Find a girlfriend
- Keep up hobbies such as movies, music, and hockey
- Become a lot more political without changing attitude
My weight-lifting will mostly consist of me doing 25-30 sets for each body part. Starting Monday, I will be going so hard to the point that I will lift until failure. In addition, cardio will be done for 15 minutes, 2 days a week, as well as abs twice a week. For this month, my work-out schedule will look like this.
Monday: Shoulders/Abs
Tuesday: Chest/Cardio
Wednesday: Back/Abs
Thursday: Legs/Calves/Cardio
Friday: Arms/Forearms
My workouts will mostly consist of freeweights. Only rarely will they consist of cables (mostly for arms and legs). Negatives will be used to get used to weight.
From this point on to the end of February, my goals will be:
- Get used to benching 245 and get a couple more reps.
- Be able to curl 110lbs – at 100lbs now.
- Start off cutting weight off of pull-ups and dips, then begin taking away until I get used to my body-weight (will be a long progress)
- Thin myself down without losing muscle
- Get on a set diet
- Find myself a job I enjoy, or find ways to enjoy current job.
In conclusion, this daily blog will be updated with daily entries. Not every day will consist of weight-lifting entries. Some days will consist purely of random thoughts that have been on my mind. The purpose of the blog will to track my progress and discover myself. 2009 was a great year, but 2010 will blow it away.
